Kate always wanted to be a potter and was studying to 'A' level at school but was discouraged from going to art college. She joined the National Health Service in which she worked, apart from breaks to bring up children, until 1995. She then decided to fulfil her long desire to pot by completing an access course and going up to Buckinghamshire and Chilterns University College studying for a degree in Ceramics and Glass. There, amongst other inspirational potters, she was tutored by the likes of Neil Brownsword and Kevin Milward. After gaining her BSc (Hons) in Ceramics and Glass Kate was invited to exhibit at New Designers Exhibiton in London and there met her school teacher from over 30 years before who had encouraged her to take up ceramics studies! Kate set up her studio during 2002 and has since been creating her work as well as teaching both in the studio and at West Anglia College in Wisbech.
